Sean Paul becomes the first dancehall artist with a song certified Diamante on Brazil. According to Pro-Música Brasil (PMB), his 2018 hit “No Lie” which features British pop singer Dua Lipa, earned the certification after selling more than 160,000 single-equivalent units.
In Brazil, music certifications have been issued by the association since 1990, upon request by associated record labels.
The track which was the most streamed dancehall song of 2023 on Spotify, was released by Island Records, a division of Universal Music Group, on November 18, 2016.
Among the songwriters for the global pop hit are Andrew Jackson, Emily Warren, Jamie “Sermstyle” Sanderson, Phillip Kembo, and Sean Paul himself. It was the lead single from Sean Paul’s Mad Love The Prequel EP (2018), produced by Sermstyle and Kembo.
In June, Sean Paul who has sold over 30 million records worldwide completed a 22-date US tour titled “Greatest Tour.” Although the dancehall deejay has performed all over the world at different festivals and spot dates, it was his first full tour, “in forever” he told People magazine, performing in venues with capacities of up to 5,000 people.
“My music is about energy. It’s about feeling good in life and feeling your life. And so I hope that I could just get one or two like yourself to come and feel life together,” the 51 year old star said.
Meanwhile No Lie collaborator Dua Lipa celebrated her 29th birthday in style with a luxurious getaway to Ibiza, where she was surrounded by friends and family. The singer shared highlights of her trip on Instagram, flaunting her toned physique in various stylish swimwear outfits, including a colorful bikini and a gingham two-piece. She also enjoyed quality time with her loved ones, including her sister Rina, brother Gjin, and boyfriend Callum Turner, who cheered her on as she danced energetically. Dua expressed her joy in the caption, writing, “never not having fun.”
